Mittchelena Meade is the first African-American woman to open her own cpa firm in Joliet, Illinois. She was born and raised in Joliet, Illinois and is a product of the Joliet public school system. In 1975 she gradated from DePaul University and received her CPA in 1985.
Mittchelena has been married to Charles Meade for forty years and is the mother of two children, Shawn and Michele. In 1986, Meade Accounting began in the basement of her home with only one employee. Within a year she moved to 350 W. Jefferson Street in Joliet where she later partnered with James Hollins from 1991- 2003 to form Hollins and Meade Accounting.
In 2004, Meade Accounting adopted its current name "Meade Accounting and Wealth Management, Inc." In 2007, Meade Accounting and Wealth Management purchased its first building at 205 E. Clinton Street in downtown Joliet and currently employs a staff of eight people.
